How it all started
Friday (juma) 20th July 2012 (1433),
On the holiest Islamic day (juma) the night before Ramadan (21st July 2012) – (1433)
A group of men came together by the will of Allah, meting at Melton’s hub and heart place of all meetings and curriculum, the building of Melton City council.
Each man with the love of Allah beating in their chest realized quickly, that each one has the same common dream. The dream to bring together Melton’s Muslim community and to join in prayers throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
With no realization of what laid ahead of them, but knowing only what ever came about would only be that of the will of Allah.
Each one persisted forward with the divine words of Allah pungent with each breath, and taking each step forward following the teachings of the prophet Mohamed (sws) to achieve the first single goal; To obtain and make available a common public place to pray (Taraweeh) and bring all Muslims in Melton together for the month of Ramadan.
From this point during prayers of Taraweeh, Allah strengthened us further with more and more brothers and sisters attending.
With only Allah, knowing of all things, we became blessed with new families; their paths of fate had just recently seen them move and settle into The City of Melton, they searched out for the nightly congressional gathering and found a group of Muslims praying together for the month of Ramadan and joined in.
Lovingly each one insisted in offering what ever support and help they can when the call was put forward to the community, and with inn them we found great support and elevating further in what we could achieve.
Only day’s inn and progression was flying high with unyielding wind in our sails. Each person outspokenly knew that a further commitment was needed and that further action and organization was warranted to progress further after Ramadan.
From this a committee was put in place to keep things going and to maintain the union of the community.
Within this became Melton Muslim Community’s first ever committee members, elected by the people of its community.
A unique blend of people all from different origins of the globe, banded together to keep this community on its feet and to take it beyond the month of Ramadan.
Each committee member knew straight away that they were involved in something unique and special, they were not representing their cultural background but representing Islam and an exceptionally divers cultural community.
Meetings between the committee members began straight away, conversations and ideas were bought forward and talked about, electricity of youthful energy blending with the acumen of life experience and wisdom, perched and ran through each and every person.
First on the agenda was to organize and hold a community breakfast to celebrate Eid Fiter, the first ever held in Melton as a public event.
Prayer areas were full to capacity with over 170 people at attendance which then spilled out into the foyers of the Melton City hall for breakfast and activities for the children. Many people forged new friendships throughout this month of Ramadan and were very reluctant to see this Holy month coming to an end.
Little did they know that the committee elected was not only working on getting the Eid in place but also working around the clock to obtain a place for Friday prayer and commence weekly gatherings for the community.
A few weeks after it was set in motion with weekly Friday gatherings and prayers.
